This is the first year for Let Your Light Shine to apply for, and receive, a grant from the Foundation. They were awarded $2,000 to for a collaborative project with 27J Schools to help meet the basic needs of students. With their grant money, they have already placed drawers stocked full with packages of new underwear and socks for 27J Schools students who are in need. Basic necessities like socks and undergarments are easily forgotten if you don’t have to worry about them but not easily ignored if you don’t have them. The Foundation is proud to support local organizations like Let Your Light Shine doing wonderful and much needed work in our community. Let Your Light Shine’s mission is to fill the gaps left between shelters, food pantries, and other local resources. They are a mobile outreach organization focused on helping those experiencing extreme financial distress and various levels of homelessness to keep them from falling through the cracks.
